JOEF in collaborates with EiF, Tembea Girls Academy (Kenya). 2022

JOEF in collaboration with EiF, Tembea Girls Academy Kenya, Beads for Education and Society of Women Engineers, Nairobi impacted 100 girls through the project: Introduce a Girl to Engineering, involving a 5 – day workshop where high school girls in Kajiado, Kenya were engaged in hands on Engineering and Technology activities in the area of electrical engineering, photography engineering, graphics design, Computer fundamentals, etc

Traversing the Challenges Encountered by Women Engineers in the Workplace. 2021

In March 2021, JOEF executed a project titled “Traversing the Challenges Encountered by Women Engineers in the Workplace” which took place at the Technical University of Mombasa, Kenya and the University of Lagos, Nigeria. At least 150 girls were impacted through this project. Women engineering professionals and mentors from different fields of engineering were present to educate the girls and share their experiences with them. Girls were advised on how to deal with work pressure and succeed in a profession dominated by men. It was an inspiring event and girls had fun during all sections.

JOEF partnered with US – based organization: AnitaB.org, to implement the Project: Code with Girls Lagos. 2019

JOEF partnered with US – based organization: AnitaB.org, to implement the Project: Code with Girls Lagos. This engaged up to 70 girls in computer programming activities such as Web design, Apps design, Games programming, Blogging, etc. The aim of the project was to encourage more girls to find interest in Computer science and Technology activities, hence contributing to bridging the gender gap in this area. The workshop which lasted for 3 days, got girls very excited and grateful to the organisers for bringing such an event to them.

JOEF secured its very first partnership with US based EiF organization. 2017

JOEF secured its very first partnership with US based EiF organization to implement the project: Introduction to Computer Programming for Secondary School Girls in Lagos, Nigeria. The event say up to 100 girls from public primary and secondary schools around Isheri Local Govt Area in Lagos state receive classes in computer programming activities, such as Website design, Scratch programming, Apps design, Introduction to Computer Programming, Electrical and Electronics Programming, etc.

JOEF promotes the engineering profession among primary school girls in Lagos state.

Engineering is a rare career choice for women. JOEF promotes the engineering profession among primary school girls in Lagos state through the Education for African Women Initiative Project held in March 2012, and sponsored by Tukano Concepts Service, Lagos Nigeria. This project is an initiative of the program: Engineering and Technology Innovation Programs for Girls (ETIPG). Also in 2012, JOEF collaborated with the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). USA to host the Event Develop and Discover Girls Innovating with Engineering, a program which involved enlightening primary school girls in Lagos about the Engineering profession, through engaging them in simple engineering related activities. This project that involved the participation of up to 200 girls is also an initiative of the program: Engineering and Technology Innovation Programs for Girls (ETIPG).

JOEF donated books and writing materials to 40 public secondary school students.

In September 2011, JOEF donated books and writing materials to 40 public secondary school students from  Ojodu Junior High School, Lagos. The children were selected to receive these materials with the help of their class teachers who had recommended them for always lacking sufficient books for their classroom participation. Some students interviewed revealed that it was difficult for them to study the right way as their parents couldn’t afford the relevant books and writing materials.  This project is an initiative of the Strengthening Libraries and School Facilities for Public Schools in Africa (SLSF) program.
