Our Team will visit Kajiado Kenya in July 2024, to implement the project: Teach Girls Science for Free. This 2-week project will engage JOEF team members with secondary school girls of Tembea Girls Academy, Kajiado Kenya, teaching them science subjects to enhance their knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.
JOEF partners with the Sierra Leone Women Engineers (SLWE) and the Saint Augustine Agricultural Secondary School, Lungi to implement the project titled: Using Information Technology Tools as a Platform for Communicating Engineering Projects. The event sponsored by US based Engineering Information Foundation (EiF) took place from 26th to 30th of September 2023. Girls were able to create prototypes of towers and different shapes of buildings using cardboard sheets, they were also able to create electric table fans. They were able to use software tools such as Clipchamp, Capcut, etc to create narrative videos of their works. It was all fun during the entire event and the girls were very excited. View photos from the event using the link: https://www.flickr.com/photos/152317968@N06/albums• JOEF is to collaborates with: Mr Adegbola Godwin Abidoye (Software Engineer) to implement the project titled: Empowering Tomorrow’s Innovators – Igniting Girls’ Passion for Tech in Shaping the Future. A project that has been curled from one of our program Goals: Engineering and Technology Innovation Program for Girls.This project impacted up to 250 girls of the Saint David’s Secondary School in Molete, Ibadan Nigeria with basic skills in Computer Science and Programming.
At the end of the project, girls were able to use computer at basic level and also showed keen interest in pursuing careers related to Information Technology.
JOEF secured its very first partnership with US based EiF organization to implement the project: Introduction to Computer Programming for Secondary School Girls in Lagos, Nigeria. The event say up to 100 girls from public primary and secondary schools around Isheri Local Govt Area in Lagos state receive classes in computer programming activities, such as Website design, Scratch programming, Apps design, Introduction to Computer Programming, Electrical and Electronics Programming, etc.

JOEF registered 17 public secondary school students in Lagos, Nigeria for the Program Science for Change (SFC) Initiative; a program that provides opportunities for after – school classes in science subjects for science students in public secondary schools, at the JOEF Head Office in Lagos. JOEF began the implementation of the project “Supporting Public School Children with School Bags and Shoes” by donating school bags to 30 students of Isheri Junior Secondary School. The Project was jointly sponsored by Kriskollins Pest Control Ltd
Engineering is a rare career choice for women. JOEF promotes the engineering profession among primary school girls in Lagos state through the Education for African Women Initiative Project held in March 2012, and sponsored by Tukano Concepts Service, Lagos Nigeria. This project is an initiative of the program: Engineering and Technology Innovation Programs for Girls (ETIPG). Also in 2012, JOEF collaborated with the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). USA to host the Event Develop and Discover Girls Innovating with Engineering, a program which involved enlightening primary school girls in Lagos about the Engineering profession, through engaging them in simple engineering related activities. This project that involved the participation of up to 200 girls is also an initiative of the program: Engineering and Technology Innovation Programs for Girls (ETIPG).
In September 2011, JOEF donated books and writing materials to 40 public secondary school students from Ojodu Junior High School, Lagos. The children were selected to receive these materials with the help of their class teachers who had recommended them for always lacking sufficient books for their classroom participation. Some students interviewed revealed that it was difficult for them to study the right way as their parents couldn’t afford the relevant books and writing materials. This project is an initiative of the Strengthening Libraries and School Facilities for Public Schools in Africa (SLSF) program.
